My heart is full

My heart is full. As a mom, there is no greater joy than spending time with your children and seeing them happy, healthy and loving life. That doesn’t change when they're adults and live half way across the country. As a military mom, it is such a gift to have our children home for the holidays. This year, the kids were all home for Thanksgiving and Christmas. In the years to come, based on where they are stationed and their service commitments, there is no guarantee they will all be home at all or together for the holidays. So I have treasured every moment of the holidays this year. . This Christmas was also special and memorable because this is the first year that my parents have been in our home for Christmas. With the exception of a Christmas in Jamaica, they always spend Christmas at home in Florida. They are not fans of the cold weather. It was a sacrifice on their part to brave the cold and such a treat for us to have them here with us this year.

As a military wife, I remember the Christmases without Tex while he was on a cruise or overseas. Those were so tough. I missed him so much. But it was my duty to make sure the kids had a good holiday without dad. Military service is most definitely a family affair; every member of the family bears a piece of the responsibility. We knew that this was part of the deal as a military family and we did what we had to do. I am sending love and prayers for all our military families who are separated for the holidays. I wish you comfort and peace during the toughest moments of longing to be with your loved ones. I salute you for your sacrifice, commitment and strength.

I am hoping that by some miraculous phenomena, my kids will always be with us for Christmas. I can’t imagine Christmas without us all together. Some might say it’s an unrealistic and impossible dream. While I am very grateful for all the presents under the tree, I honestly would gladly trade all those things for a chance to our family to be together. I’ll have to wait and see what the future holds. I believe in miracles. Impossible things happen every day. For now, I am so very grateful for this year and the time we have together as a family. My heart is full and overflowing with joy, gratitude and love. I am blessed beyond measure.

"Nothing is impossible for those who believe."
